From Beginning to End: The Couples and Engagement Experience 

Here is what you can expect if you book a couples, engagement, or surprise proposal session with me.

1. Book Your Date

First things first, let’s get your date booked for the shoot.

At this point there is no obligation to book a session. So please feel free to contact me and ask any questions you may have. I am always happy to hop on a phone call to iron out any details of the shoot. There is definitely a lot of planning that goes into surprise proposals photo shoots. So a phone call is almost necessary for these!

If you decide to go forward and book a session, we can work out a date right then and there. I shoot most of my sessions within a couple hours of sunset so that you can have the best possible lighting conditions. Golden hour is the most popular time for portraits since that is when the sun is setting. By shooting at this time we avoid squinty eyes and shadows on faces caused by the harsh sunlight. It is 100% possible to shoot at other times of the day, we will just need to shoot in the shade where the sunlight isn’t too harsh.

Most of my clients normally photo sessions on the weekend, so those dates tend to go faster, especially during wedding season.

After you choose a date, I’ll send you an email with confirmation of the date, time, and location.

To secure your photo session there is a 50% retainer fee with the rest of the payment due the day before the photo session.

2. Pre-Shoot Chat

A lot of the times this can be knocked out during the initial phone call or emails, but every session is unique, especially proposals. When we have the pre-shoot chat, we will talk about your expectations, and the type of images you want to create (as well as any other questions you might have).

While I do shoot in my own style, I would still love to know if you have any special requests. We can also go over any outfit or location questions you may have for me.

3. Photo Session

This is the exciting part!

At this point we have all the details ironed out and all we have to do is have some fun and create some awesome photos that will last a life time.

Photo sessions can be anywhere from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours long depending on the session you book. For surprise proposals timing will vary, nonetheless we will make it work without a hitch!

We will meet at the location we decided on and take a few minutes to go over where we are going to shoot. Depending on the location, we may stay in one smaller area, or we may be covering a lot of ground, but you will know all that ahead of time. I’m always open to input on any ideas you may have as we go along.

  • If you decide to book a 8 hour or 10 hour wedding package with me, you will receive a complimentary engagement session. This session will typically last 1 hour.
